What is certain is that since the '400, we can find also the decorated papers between the products of printers, such as lunar calendars, playing cards, the holy, the edicts and proclamations.

After the great flowering of the French xylographic tecnique with marbled, gilded and embossed drawings, and under the English influences of '800, Florence became an important production centre of decorated paper.

In the first decades of the twentieth century, the floral decorations of dawning Art Nouveau with the depictions of regional folk motifs characterize much of the Florentine production.
